Editorial Eyes On Your Work
You finished the draft. Or you're close. Either way, you've been staring at it long enough that you can't see it anymore. You need a reader—someone who can sit with your work and tell you what it's actually doing.
That's where I come in.
I work with writers in flash fiction, personal essays, creative nonfiction, and short literary fiction. I bring a writer's eye, an educator's instinct for clarity, and the perspective of someone who has navigated the submission process and knows what careful, specific feedback feels like — and what it can do for a piece.

Sample Edit
Not sure if we're a good fit? Start here.
Send me the first 500 words of your manuscript and I'll return a detailed line edit with margin notes and a short editorial letter addressing what's working, what needs attention, and what direction the piece reads like it’s going.
Investment: $35
If you'd like to continue working together after the sample, I'll assess the full manuscript and send a custom quote for the complete edit.
To Get Started
Send a message through the Contact page with the subject line Sample Edit and a brief description of your piece — what it is, where it's going, and what you feel it needs. I'll be in touch within 48 hours.
Payment & Project Policy
Payment is due in full before work begins. Once payment is received, I'll confirm your project within 2 business days and begin work from there.
Fees are non-refundable once feedback has been delivered. If you need to cancel before I've begun work, please reach out within 24 hours of payment and I'll issue a full refund.
I accept one revision request per project — meaning if something in the feedback is unclear, I'm happy to clarify. This is not a second round of editing.
If you have questions about which tier is right for your piece, reach out before submitting. I'd rather point you in the right direction upfront than have you pay for the wrong service.
What to Expect
Feedback that is honest, specific, and written with the goals of your piece in mind. My goal as your editor is not to rewrite your work but to help you see it more clearly so you can. I communicate regularly with my clients as I work with them on each project, and I encourage them to do the same with me.
I currently work with: flash fiction, personal essays, creative nonfiction, lyric essays, and short literary fiction.
I do not currently offer feedback on: novel-length manuscripts, academic writing, screenplays, or poetry collections.
If you're not sure whether your piece is a good fit, reach out. I'll tell you honestly.
Who You are Working With
I'm Dora Acosta — writer, educator, and editor. I hold a Master's degree in Education and have spent years in classrooms, so I know how to give feedback that a writer can actually use. I won't just tell you something is wrong. I'll show you where, explain why, and point toward what's possible.
I’m glad you’re here. Let’s get to work.
